SOAS University of London viewed?

I will soon finish my Powi BA and am looking for good master’s programs with a business focus. That's when I became aware of the distance learning Master's in Public Policy and Management at SOAS, which at 10k is just affordable for me, especially because it is a distance learning and it saves me the costs of London. In the QS ranking, SOAS is in the top 20 worldwide for politics and ahead of names such as FU Berlin, Leiden or DA Vienna. But of course a good bit behind LSE / Science Po. It has to be said that distance learning is my favorite and the combination of public policy and management does not exist in D / AT at state universities.

I have practical experience in the public sector and media, but the budget is very limited. Masters at UK Uni is only possible in distance learning and then only with fees of 10-12k.

I would prefer to work at the interface between administration and the private sector. So with chambers, public companies or directly in the public sector.

SOAS is unknown in public policy in the UK. Traditionally, focus on politics with history, culture and languages. Spatial Sciences Middle East, Africa and Asia. Little political science and a gap in policy analysis in the curriculum / teaching.

So SOAS is now also better known for ethnology and history and also respected in these areas. When it comes to politics, I've had less in my head now, but I'm also just a layman and maybe I see it completely wrong.

But my impression from the outside is that the SOAS is very international with a focus on Africa / Middle East / Africa. On LinkedIn you can also see that a lot of alumni work for the United Nations and other actors in the field of development aid / trade. The university definitely has a good reputation in this area.

The content of the master’s course will certainly fit your goals well and you’ll certainly get a reasonable quality there. But I wouldn't expect any of your future employers to have heard of the university. The combination of Public Policy & Management does not actually exist in DE, but I think, for example, the Master in Public Management in Potsdam should be similar in content.
