Summary

Big data is currently triggering a management revolution. The conversion of an organization to Big Data brings enormous challenges with it. Both the speed of data generation and the quantities and structures are relevant. Most of the data is available to the companies in a poly-structured, semi-structured or largely unstructured form. The solution of complex tasks for which there is supposedly too much information available can lead to bottlenecks in the human processing capacity. Big data has great potential here, which must be recognized and exploited in order to increase the quality of decision-making. Progressive forms of visualization, taking into account perceptual psychological findings, can help to prepare and present big data visually in such a way that it can be used for analysis and presentation purposes to support decision-making and its complexity can be mastered. There is enormous potential here, especially in the analysis, which companies can use to secure competitive advantages.
