What do the British love about Americans
What Americans think about German tourists

The USA is very popular with German holidaymakers as a travel destination. But do the Germans in Amiland also behave properly? And what about travelers from other European countries? A survey of Americans shows who is most popular - and who the Americans find most attractive.
The good news first: German tourists are relatively welcome guests in the USA. The bad news: the British are better received by the Americans than we are - but only when it comes to friendliness. When it comes to beauty, German vacationers do significantly better than English tourists. This was the result of a representative survey conducted by the online survey company Surveymonkey among 1190 Americans.
When it comes to friendliness, Americans have two favorites among European tourists: the English and the Irish. With 20.7 and 13.5 percent of the votes, they came in first and second in the friendliness ranking. But this is hardly surprising given the absence of language barriers - after all, you can communicate much better if you speak the same language. Perhaps it is also because of the good English skills of the Germans that they are number 3 of the friendliest tourists from the American perspective. Here are the top 10:
1st place: Great Britain (20.7 percent)
Place 2: Ireland (13.5 percent)
Place 3: Germany (9.5 percent)
4th place: Italy (8.3 percent)
5th place: Sweden (6.8 percent)
Rank 6: Netherlands (5.3 percent)
7th place: Spain (4.8 percent)
8th place: Norway (3.6 percent)
9th place: Switzerland (3.5 percent)
Place 10: Denmark (2.7 percent)
Who are the most beautiful USA tourists?
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who are the most beautiful Europeans in Amiland? Clearly, the Americans like tall, blonde people. It is not for nothing that the Swedes ended up in the Surveymonkey survey with 16.9 percent of the votes in number 1 of the most beautiful tourists from Europe from an American point of view - ahead of the Italians (15.8 percent) and the Spanish (8 percent). German vacationers ended up in fourth place. You can see where the English landed here:
1st place: Sweden (16.9 percent)
Place 2: Italy (15.8 percent)
Place 3: Spain (8.0 percent)
4th place: Germany (7.7 percent)
5th place: France (7.1 percent)
Rank 6: Great Britain (5.7 percent)
7th place: Ireland (5.3 percent)
8th place: Netherlands (3.6 percent)
9th place: Denmark (3.5 percent)
Place 10: Norway (3.3 percent)
By the way: the Germans owe their good ranking primarily to the American men. Male survey participants even saw the German citizens in third place behind the Swedes and Italians. For the Americans, on the other hand, the Germans only land in 5th place behind Italians, Swedes, French and Spanish.
Who is the most popular?
The top 10 most popular European tourists in the USA are almost identical to those rated as the friendliest. With more than a fifth (21.9 percent) of Americans, the British are by far the most popular, followed by the Irish at 13.9 percent. And here, too, Germany landed in a good third place with 10.6 percent. With younger Americans under 30, German tourists are even a bit more popular than the Irish. In this age group, they are the second most popular tourists, just behind the British. And here are the top 10:
1st place: Great Britain (21.9 percent)
Place 2: Ireland (13.9 percent)
Place 3: Germany (10.6 percent)
4th place: Italy (8.8 percent)
5th place: Sweden (6.2 percent)
Rank 6: Netherlands (4.6 percent)
7th place: Spain (4.5 percent)
8th place: France (3.2 percent)
9th place: Norway (2.7 percent)
Place 10: Switzerland (2.1 percent)
Which cities do the Americans recommend?
The survey also asked Americans which of the top ten most-visited American cities they would recommend foreign tourists to visit. Clear favorite: New York City with more than a quarter (25.7 percent) of the vote. This is followed by Washington D.C. (15.5 percent) and San Francisco (14.4 percent). US citizens, on the other hand, find Los Angeles (2.6 percent) and Miami (1.9 percent) the least worth seeing and recommending.
